Last year we presented the first I Bike T.O. Award to Justin LaFontaine and his tireless work on the Bike Train. We didn't know if we'd do it again after last year's presentation of awards at September Critical Mass, but now we know now and we will! This January we will be presenting our second I Bike T.O. Award to the cycling advocate of 2008 alongside the City of Toronto's Bicycle Friendly Business Awards and the Toronto Cyclists Union's awards.
Even though us bloggers have already made our choices, doesn't mean we want to leave the readers out of this! From now until the end of the day on Monday December 1st, we would like you to put in the name of a person with a brief (or not so brief) explanation of why you think this person deserves to be publicly recognized by I Bike T.O. We will then take your nominations and put up a poll where people can then vote for the Readers' Choice.
Come January we'll present an award on your behalf.
Bring it on! (in the comments below)

maybe it should be Ashley's instead?
Thu, 11/27/2008 - 08:44Albert is and was a star, but we would have had no court case if Ashley's hadn't been willing to spend $100,000 or more. The case was built upon letters I wrote to Environment Minister Gerretsen early this year about the City's EAvasion, and the poor quality of the responses. My technical info was based on research work of Kristen Courtney. This is the best link especially the tables: http://www.municipalengineers.on.ca/classea/manual/manualSimple.asp?sect...{50310A78-ECB2-45D6-A6CE-D1FB18B4DFA9}
Ashley's wouldn't have known of these concerns if it weren't for Margaret Hastings-James doing effective outreach at a meeting I couldn't make.
Albert poured himself into this; his special skills and verve were invaluable, but the arena was kinda paid for by Ashley's China, and it was a team effort.
And speaking of team efforts, what about ibiketo getting an award? Thanks for all you folks do - I find it really really helpful to have these forums available.

Bollards at the Boulevard Club
Wed, 11/26/2008 - 13:42Some good news . Some of the Bollards at the3 Boulevard Club have been removed. There is now enough room for a cyclist to maouever easily and safely, but still close enough that a car can't fit. One danger is now greatly reduced. Kudos to getting them changed.

Bollards!
Wed, 11/26/2008 - 21:21Yeah, I saw that this afternoon, which gave me more room to dodge the usual tool coming out of the Boulevard club without much regard for me.
