Thank you HiMYSYeD for your photos of Jarvis Street bike lanes. Thank you to whoever clarified what we're really fighting for in the posters: clean air, safe roads, a fair share of public funds; and recognition that cyclists give back much more than we cost. Why wouldn't you love us?

ugh.
Tue, 08/17/2010 - 17:11Meh, asshole rhetoric appreciated only by other assholes. All the (true) points raised by those posters are negated by their holier-than-thou tone — which just paints cyclists as entitled idiots.
Can't wait to see posters patting tax-payers on the back for paying more in taxes than they receive in social services — we should put those ones up around Moss Park, and the community centres. You know, that way they can share in our self-important glow — why wouldn't they want to cheer us on, since we're so virtuous!?

Tue, 08/17/2010 - 22:28The comment makes no sense. The message is clear: people who don't drive are subsidizing those who do. Driving is a privilege. Since the poor are less likely to own a car, particularly in Toronto's core, I'd say it's drivers who are entitled and come off looking that way.
Rather than use your analogy with Moss Park, let's imagine instead the drivers going down to Moss Park, kicking someone on welfare down, and stealing their change. Extreme? I don't think it's anymore than your inane example. Instead, I'd say it's more accurate.
