2010: a year of extremes for cycling
The city has saved me some trouble from having to do my own research by compiling all the things that they've done this last year. Before I reveal it all, let me list the things that I can remember about 2010:
Ringing in the new year
Happy New Year everyone! And may the cycling in Toronto get progressively better in 2011 (or progressively less worse).
Sometimes it seems like Toronto cyclists are expected to shut up and put up. To buck this trend comes this video from Buck Moore (pun intended). With its retro graphics and friendly earnestness, I know I'll be subjecting my guests to it as we count down to the end of 2010. And so should you.
Last minute bike gifts I want you to want
There are still some of you who are frantically searching for some last minute Christmas gifts for someone who loves cycling. Like any good gift list suggestions, I've come up with the things I like and figure you should like them too. Read on:
Custom headbadges available to Hoopdriver Bicycles. Now nothing is holding you back from getting a custom "PINKO" and Don Cherry's head headbadge for your downtown elitist loved-one.
Pink bike peace offering for Cherry's pinko comment

This week "pit bull" Don Cherry was invited to Mayor Ford's swearing-in ceremony and made a speech that went like this "blah, blah... wearing pinko for all the pinkos out there that ride bicycles and everything ...blah blah". Ford later claimed not to know what Cherry was going to say. All the same you could see that Ford wanted to give Cherry a big hug.
In the spirit of the season buy your loved on a new bike, or else
From Tamara Askew. If your ungrateful child just hates all the expensive gifts you purchased for them, perhaps they just wanted a bike. The video mentions a UK bike store, Bonthrone Bikes, as the place to buy these ungrateful ones what they really want, but really you can find some closer to home.
