The Queen's Park Grand Prix cycling race took place Sunday with appearances by Tour de France riders Ryder Hesjedal and Mike Barry. Tino has a number of great photos of this seminal event.
Jeffery Schiller took the men's title with Ryder Hesjedal in third and Mike Barry in seventh. Joelle Numainville took the women's title.
This race hasn't taken place in Toronto in twenty odd years. I have heard that the end of the ban on Sunday shopping killed a lot of these cycling events since it meant much more car traffic on the roads.

was there good enough promo of this?
Mon, 09/20/2010 - 13:15Regrettably, the crowds were less than what they should have been though it was ok I guess. Was there good enough promo of this?
It was fabulous seeing the bikes on the QPC - a nice change, though the City should have filled in a dangerous seam on the west travel lanes - hope nobody spilled.... I guess that's why the City makes organizers take out insurance - to cover their neglect?...

What A Race!
Tue, 09/21/2010 - 07:43It was so great to finally have this race back in Toronto. Cycling is such a unique sport, So to have a full day event is great exposure for the sport.
