Tino when was this?... I saw a YT video awhile ago that I think was from NY, is this the same car?
Do you know if they were charged and if so with what? I gather that book the cop is looking through is a copy of the HTA to figure out what to do. It is not considered a motor vehicle ( I am assuming that they took out the engine) under the HTA nor is considered a bicycle. Bikes, technically, can only have up to three wheels.
Once the engine is taken out a lot of the regulations with respect to registration no longer exist.
"This was recorded 26 October 2007 in downtown Toronto, Canada.
Michel de Broin, an artist, had totally stripped down a 1986 Buick Regal and outfitted it with 4 independent pedal and gear mechanisms. This was part of 'art' piece being exhibited at the Mercer Union Gallery (24 October - 8 December).
Anyway, the police noticed the car's test drive and thought to pull it over and check it out.
No tasers were employed, but it did cost the occupants an expensive towing charge. "

I was part of the oxygen fueled car of 2005, which was a five-wheeled honda civic-turned-tandem bicycle. It had two load-bearing and braking car wheels, one steering motorcycle wheel, and 2 bicycle propulsion wheels. As a non-motorized vehicle, it needed no title, no insurance, and no licence plate. It did need to stop quickly, have lights at night, and KIND OF obey traffic laws: money in meters, stopping at red lights, etc. The police in Savannah, Georgia had no problems with the 'bike'.
The best projects stretch the definition of legal, but don't need to break it.
I see that the court date is April 3, from the star article. What is the charge? And what time/where is the hearing to take place? I would like to be in court, with my bike helmet, to show support for this 'venture' in court.

Sat, 12/08/2007 - 21:54I'd love to try driving that Buick!
It's a cool idea, makes you think how unwieldy and awkward cars really are.
