I've got the scoop that Igor Kenk - our friendly, notorious bike thief - will be attempting to ameliorate his reputation by hosting a free bike repair session in Trinity Bellwoods Park on November 1.
If this isn't just some sort of joke it could prove to be an interesting time.
It's a bit late in the season to get back into fixing and stealing bikes. Normally at this time of year Igor would be closing up shop for the winter, but since he's out on bail probably can't leave for warmer climes.

Premier Gordon Campbell in BC
Tue, 10/28/2008 - 13:57To show how far we have to go in Toronto. Here we have councillors saying cyclists deserve to get killed. One of Toronto's main streets, Bloor, is being completed redesigned but somehow they managed to forget to add bike lanes to their vision. Meanwhile in British Columbia...
"I'm not saying everyone has to ride a bike, but it's important to provide people with the infrastructure to make that choice."
-- Premier Gordon Campbell of British Columbia, Canada, on announcing the province's "Bike BC" initiative
I don't know whether to be happy or sad.

What kind of comparison is that?!
Wed, 10/29/2008 - 02:18Did someone of the premier's standing say that cyclists deserve to be killed? No, it was one ignorant suburban councillor. What a loony comparison.
