The long awaited redesign plans of Queens Quay look good. It's all over the papers today and Spacing has a nice article for more information.
Big sigh of relief for cycling along the waterfront once it all gets done.

Wow, have they actually
Fri, 03/27/2009 - 02:15Wow, have they actually figured out how to maintain turf in a streetcar right of way? That's incredible!

Not rocket science

double-wide cycletracks
Fri, 03/27/2009 - 03:04would be nice if the cycletracks were big enough to accommodate two people riding side by side -- that way, we could actually talk to someone if we wanted to.

@ Peter re: double lanes
Fri, 03/27/2009 - 12:22Then cyclists could pass me easily and I wouldn't get run into the sewer grates, either.
Yup, it's a good dream. Maybe we can make it come true, some day!
HONKA! HONKA!

not to mention, i've never
Fri, 03/27/2009 - 03:06not to mention, i've never seen a blader be able to stay within a 3-foot lane -- and not that they should have to. we should get at least as much room as that made available to automobiles.

The Glass Is Full
Fri, 03/27/2009 - 13:01With all of the obstacles to implementing Bike Lanes, I would be thrilled to see this plan become reality; building cycling infrastructure usually needs to hold up to harsh criticism before it gets full support.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but to suggest that a Bike Lane be large enough to facilitate conversations between cyclists is just not practical and presents cycling advocacy in a poor light.

They will be wide
Fri, 03/27/2009 - 13:50The plan includes a 4 metre corridor for a two-way Martin Goodman trail most of the way. That's 2 meters for each direction. Wide enough for bladers, kids and even careful side by side riding when it is not to busy . The point future trail users need to focus on is what will happen between Spadina and Bathhurst. There will be an annoying criss-cross thing if the two-way cars road on the north side is chosen. If the one-way car road opion is chosen then Spadina to Bathust will also be a two-way Martin Goodman trail not just bike lanes and sidewalks. Please let Waterfront Toronto know your opions. Thank Clay
